10 Fired over Wii Death

The radio station responsible for the death of Jennifer Strange – after she competed in their “Hold Your Wee for a Wii” contest and then died of water intoxication – has fired 10 staff members over the incident.

Included were a number of DJs:

In an online recording of the show, the DJs can be heard making comments joking about people dying from water intoxication, even discussing a case in Northern California two years ago in which student Matthew Carrington, 21, died after drinking too much water during a fraternity pledge.

One of the DJs even admitted they maybe should have done some research before the contest.

Gee whiz, ya think?

Hm, the interesting part there is that I did not know about water intoxication. Thanks to you and Wikipedia I know more now.

I am used to drinking about 6-7 liters each day, but my metabolism and eating habits are quite peculiar. And rarely three liters in one hour, so lucky at that.

    Still… hm.
